Gaspar's was awesome to shop and dive with. I stopped by the store to pick up a new vest/hood and Spero was extremely helpful in getting the item that would work out best for me. I booked two fossil dive days with them and had two great trips. Captains Joe and Matty were a blast to be with and put us on a plethora of shark teeth and fossils. I finished my dive with a number of megs, a whale ear bone, and hundreds of small teeth to add to the collection. I'm looking forward visit Venice/Englewood again and going on another dive trip with the Gaspar's crew.

While the other instructors at this shop seemed kind and appeared somewhat aware of his issues, my experience with Spiro in the Open Water course was a major safety and professional disappointment. Spiro was consistently impatient, snapping at students’ questions and rushing through a five-hour classroom session in just one hour, skipping vital safety briefings before we entered the pool. During the first open water dive, he failed to wait for the group, which led to a student panicking and making an uncontrolled ascent. Simple incidents could have been prevented with proper instruction, such as learning to use a regulator purge button—a basic skill that was never taught. Beyond the poor instruction, the shop forces students to buy expensive, non-beginner equipment before the course starts rather than allowing rentals. When I realized I was sold the wrong size boots, Spiro became defensive and accusatory rather than helpful. Learning to dive should build confidence, but Spiro’s conduct made the process unnecessarily stressful and focused more on sales than student safety.

Incredible day out on the water with Capt. Joe and Mike! Extremely spacious boat that was easy to board and had plenty of room for all your gear. Capt. Joe put us on the Megs all day! The boat snacks were pretty great too 😂 if you’re looking for a great time with an awesome crew then definitely check out Gaspars Dive N Board!
